JOB SUMMARY
This is a senior level Scientist, with proven independent performance in biological, pharmacological and/or medical Sciences, a strong record of accomplishments in research and demonstrated effectiveness and leadership in an academic institution and/or in the industry
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate, lead, and supervise focused discovery, validation and implementation of biomarkers research in support of drug discovery and development programs within the therapeutic area of Women's Health and Musculoskeletal Diseases. Maintain current knowledge in biomarkers sciences, Translational Medicine, technology as well as strong scientific publications, presentations and engagements in professional forums, symposia etc.
Participate in Learn teams that form strategies, tactics for biomarkers discovery, and implementation within the specified therapeutic area.
Support the Translational Medicine group in Scotland, UK via joint Research Collaborations towards biomarker discovery, validation and implementation within the specified therapeutic area.
Work with the Associate Director, DTM to develop Disease s and compound biomarker strategies and roadmaps in the specified therapeutic area. Support the Associate Director of DTM in Biomarker research activities, portfolio management, data and expert opinion as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATION
PhD, MD or MD/PhD in biological, pharmacological or medical Sciences obtained in a leading teaching Institution.
At least one Post-Doctorate Fellowship training and research experience in the area of Women's Health or Bone disease (Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis) in academic or other leading research institutions.
At least 8 years of post-doctoral research experience in academic or other leading research institutions with demonstrated independent research, evidenced by leadership in grant support, first or senior author publications in peer reviewed, leading professional journals. Emerging reputation in specific research area as evidenced by invitations for speaker in professional symposia. Pharmaceutical (discovery) experience is highly desired. Knowledge in modern scientific research areas and advanced technologies (e.g., genomics, proteomics) and demonstrated experience or strong interest in Translational Medicine are important. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills are required. High integrity, professional and personal ethics as evidenced by three references of supervisors and professional colleagues.
